Salesforce Agentforce pricing and flex credits explained

IC Guides · AI Agents · Work and business

Documentation researchedNo hands-on testSalesforce pricing page checked 19 October 2026

Salesforce sells Agentforce under four consumption and licence models. Flex Credits meter every action at $0.10. Conversations charge a flat $2. User licences cover employees. A Help Agent resolution is $2. You cannot mix Flex Credits and Conversations in the same org, so the choice is a contract decision, not a setting. The break even between the first two is 20 actions per conversation.

Who it fits

Companies already on Salesforce who want agents acting on CRM data. Salesforce lists Foundations as a free starting point for any use case. Platform entitlements and Data 360 credits are separate costs the examples exclude.

Buying models

ModelHow it works
Pre-PurchaseBuy a set amount for the full term and pay upfront. Usage draws down a balance.
Pre-CommitCommit to a baseline with no upfront payment, billed monthly in arrears, true up at term end if usage is below commitment. Salesforce says it is widely available later this year.
PayGoNo commitment. Billed monthly in arrears for what you use.
How Agentforce’s pre-purchase, pre-commitment and pay-as-you-go buying arrangements differ.

Per the FAQ, if you exceed your Flex Credit balance there is no overage penalty. Your contracted rate applies, billed monthly in arrears. Unused credits do not roll over into later terms.

Salesforce’s examples state they exclude Data 360 credits and other consumption services, and that actual usage will vary. The break even rows are our calculations and ignore platform licences.

Where costs surprise you

Actions per case drive the bill. A resolution that takes ten actions costs about $1 on Flex Credits, and Salesforce’s examples use 2 to 5 actions, so measure yours. The $2 conversation is cheaper than Flex only if conversations use more than 20 actions, which would be unusual. A flat fee suits predictable budgets and not low cost.

Salesforce states Flex Credits and Conversations are not supported in the same org, and switching means swapping all Conversation SKUs. The Help Agent price depends on what qualifies as a resolution and its time window, so ask for that in writing. Entitlements and Data 360 are extra, which means the agent price is not the project price.

How to test it

  1. Start on Foundations or a PayGo trial with Digital Wallet, which Salesforce says is provided free for usage based products.
  2. Set Digital Wallet threshold alerts before you open the agent to customers.
  3. Count actions per resolved case on 100 real cases.
  4. Multiply by $0.10 per standard action and compare it with $2 per conversation and $2 per Help Agent resolution.

Questions to ask before you buy

  1. How many actions does a typical case use in our setup, and what does the rate card say about each?
  2. Which model is cheaper at our volume, and what does switching cost?
  3. What are the resolution time windows and exclusions for the Help Agent?
  4. Which platform entitlements and Data 360 credits are required?
  5. When does Pre-Commit become available to us, and what is the true up rule?
